Summary
2The Normandie was more than a luxury cruise ship - she was a symbol of glamour and opulence. But at the onset of war, both the Allies and the Nazis realized her potential threat as a warship: she could carry fifteen thousand troops across the Atlantic at a speed that could outdistance every submarine and surface ship. Ultimately the command descended from Hitler himself: Sink the Normandie ! It is Walther Von Beck, a former U-boat captain, who is chosen to execute the plan. Upon Von Beck's arrival in New York, he enlists the aid of Rachael, one of many Ger{u00AD}man Jews spying reluctantly for the Nazis in exchange for the safety of their loved ones who await the death camps back home. As they embark on their project, Rachael and Walther are drawn to each other and share a sensual, bittersweet love. And together, they become entangled with two men who are will{u00AD}ing to risk everything to protect the Norman{u00AD}die: Captain Maurice Rayna!, who has vowed to destroy the Normandie himself rather than allow her to fall into the hands of the Nazis; and Bonham, a young FBI agent who, in his desperation to make a name for himself, is led on a dangerous path to Rachael and Von Beck, and eventually on board the Normandie itself.3--Jacket
