Summary
In the southern United States, many individuals and communities believe in what they call "mojo", an adaptation of the African word for "spark" or "soul". Photographer Keith Carter has travelled throughout Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas--wherever the mojo is strong--documenting in his own inimitable style everything from dogs to trees to river baptisms, revealing the power of the mysticism which resides beneath the surface of everyday life
