Summary
Lee Phillips is an aging pistol-toting cowboy historian in love with West Texas. He stumbles upon five vulture-eaten bodies in a remote canyon in Big Bend National Park and becomes emeshed in a deadly double mystery. In an abandoned mine shaft renegade Mexican and U.S. border police have hidden poisonous refined mercury, enough to kill hundreds of thousands in Austin, the state capital. Nearby is an ancient artifact that a secret society known as the 7 Guardians have protected for centuries and its discovery has the power to change history. Lee, his family and friends soon find themselves targets of international conspirators and terrorists. He must use all his skills to solve the mysteries and to confound the terrorists and those who have betrayed him--Back cover
