Summary
This is an account of the most significant, and bitterly contested, political convention ever held in the United States: the Democratic National Convetion of 1932, which resulted in the nomination of Franklin D. Roosevelt and ushered in an era of unprecedented change. The country wallowed in the depths of a terrible depression. Something radically new was needed if faith in the democratic process was to be restored. The Demomcratic Party, after great strife and dissention, provided a presidential candidate who promised a New Deal and who was to become one of the most beloved, and hated, leaders of all time
