Summary
This sparkling collection of tales of trail and camp, written by the master chronicler of the range, is a literary find of great interest and genuine importance. Every aspect of range life is touched upon. Each story is told by an Andy Adams character, but all tales were derived by the author from the many hundreds of night he himself spent under the Western stars listening to the talk of men sitting around a campfire. In a lucid introduction, the editor, an associate professor of English at the University of Texas, places Adams' stories in their own historical and literary perspective. Delightful pen-and-ink sketches illustrate the text -- Back cover
